Stages of the Disease

  • Early / mild stage: recent memory loss, repetition, getting lost, subtle word-finding trouble, and difficulty with finances or medication organization.
  • Middle / moderate stage: increasing confusion, need for help with daily tasks, behavior changes, wandering risk, and greater caregiver burden.
  • Late / severe stage: extensive assistance needed with dressing, bathing, toileting, eating, mobility, and communication.
