About Alzheimer’s Disease
Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive brain disease and the most common cause of dementia. Dementia is a term for a decline in memory, thinking, language, judgment, or daily function severe enough to interfere with independence.
Alzheimer’s is associated with abnormal buildup of amyloid-beta plaques and tau tangles in the brain. Over time, these changes can affect memory, word-finding, problem-solving, orientation, and eventually basic daily activities.
Important: Normal aging may include occasional forgetfulness, but dementia causes changes that disrupt everyday life.
